The mud puppy is a floating lipped shallow water diver. This bait is produced by hand using a variety of wood species. Every bait is different due to it's hand made qualities which make each lure the anglers own custom experience. Stock mud puppies came in a variety of patterns utilizing artist choice of brown and pearl natural tones. The imitation goal is to replicate the colors and behaviors of the mud minnow, killifish, or sheepshead minnow. See our Dive Log Blog for some educational facts!
The mud puppies are also available in sardine, menhaden, natural grained wood. or any custom color patterns requested. ABS plastic custom painted versions are optional. ABS versions have rattles and are outfitted with quality hooks.
The mud puppy shares it's name in naval jargon as title to a shipboard sailor who has aspirations or is awaiting orders to become a US Navy Diver who commonly "hangs around" the dive locker...
